  1. Libero is your defensive specialist, so they do not play front row. You wear a jersey with contrasting colors to the ones worn by  the rest of your team so that the referees know you are your teams libero. You can come in and out of the game for someone in the back row at any time without having to be subbed in.

Your job is to work the back row and be the best passer on the team. You should be quick on your feet and learn to read the other teams hitters to anticipate where they will hit the ball. Be there and make the perfect pass to your setter, which will allow him/her to set one of your hitters for the kill (point). Your role on the team is extremely important.

Just because you are back row only does not mean you can't participate in your teams offense. Setters can set you 10 balls (balls set behind the 10 foot line), and you CAN serve durring the game, but it must be for the same person logically (otherwise you would get to serve more than any other person).

I hope this helped. Don't get discouraged if you feel you arent very good at first. Volleyball takes a little while to get good. Once you know what you are doing you will love this sport. It is very rewarding in many ways :)

  2. A libero is a defensive specialist.  They can just run on the court for the people that are doing bad or will do bad or things like that.  It should be a compliment if they called you the libero.  the libero does not get to serve and play the front row though.

  3. Its called a Libero.. they are defensive specialists. Their job is to play the back row and make digs.. like when the other team spikes or serves.. usually they are shorter but have extremely quick reaction time. You don't get to play front line you can only play back row. Its a really important role on the team and it's a compliment that your coach asked you to do it.

  4. Also, the libero usually gets to play a lot. When a libero goes in for another player, usually a front-row-only player, it doesn't count as a substitution. Liberos are usually your best passers because they are able to be on the floor during the whole game, due to the fact that they can sub in every 3 rotations for two other players.

  5. Supply the spiked drinks for the rest of the team.

  6. Excuse me it's suppose to be LIBERO  IT IS THE BEST RECIEVER AND DOESN'T SERVE DURING THE GAME

  7. The libero is also called the back row specialist, they will never play front row. Instead of subbing you in and out you and thee person that you are going in for just run on or off the court. they usually go in for the middle when their serving run is over and the other team has the serve. Your coach may just put you in for whoever is having an off day passing. It is an honor to be the libero because the libero is one of the best passers on the team. They also have a different looking jersy that the reat of the team so that the officials know what player is the labero, so they can sub in and out without.  much time wasted. The labero also rarely serves. I played middle at my club and I served eveytime and then once the other team got a point the labero would come in for me. then when the labero was in rotating into the front row I  would go in for her.
