Speedo briefs are the only way to go.

The mesh acts kind of like underwear so things don't get totally out out place. They are made of mesh material so it's allowed to drain and dry quickly. Prevent chaffing. Some guys wear underwear underneath in addition but it's not necessary.

The mesh is for your junk to be kept in place so you don't have to wear like underwear, (who wears underwear when they swim anyway?) Plus, it's much more comfortable.

I swim and I wear Speedo Jammers, they're very comfy, not revealing at all, I'm going to switch to Speedo "speedos" soon.

the mesh is meant to hold you stuff in place. I used not to wear anything under but someday i tried speedo under it and like it better. I guess it's your own choice, try with something and with nothing and choose what you like the best
