What does the month of July and August mean in Edmund Spencer's "Fairy Queen"? I can't understand the way Spencer described the month of July and August.Please help me.thanks!

  1. They are allegorical descriptions of July and August. Spenser used mythological references (Nemean lion: the "Amphitryonide" is Heracles. His stepfather was Amphitryon).

    Look up this reference, it will make things clearer for you. For July, Spenser stresses the violence of heat, and for August, the notion of plenty.
