not sure but it is a braw scottish name.never heard of dougray scott the  actor??there is an estate i think on the isle of arran with the same name but not sure of the spelling.

It's actually a French surname. Dougray Scott took his french grandmother's surname as his stage name.

Technically, you could disect it though. Douglas means "black water" and Raymond means "wise-protector".

There was a Sir Degare (pronounced Degaray)  in a medieval poem.  It comes from the French word Egare (aygaray) meaning "lost one".  Since people are saying Dougray comes from a French last name, maybe it is related to Degare and means "lost one" as well.
