I only know a few people that actually use it. I also know I remember seeing it on my Act Test. I didn't do to bad on my Act (21 so im average), but I have never actually learned or at least remember learning the sign?

  1. It's a hyphen or a minus in math.

A hyphen can be used to symbolize a pause or break in a sentence: "I went to the store - then I biked to the mall." As if you're adding something on.

    Hope I helped :)

  2. It could link together a word, like get-go

In could be used in a sentense to include a thought - and here's the funny part - that doesn't call for parenthesis

It may also be used just to separate a list without using numbers

    likes - 27

    dislikes - 34

    Don't Knows - 1,456

  3. ... Wow...

  4. it's a hyphen

it is used to separate things

    for example last name's

    it would be Lisa Smith-Barton.

    hope it's ok
