I believe the numbers range from 1 through 7. Where can I find more information re: this symbol? What is correlation between this number and human health?

Thanks.

  1. the numbers refer to the type of plastic the bottle is made from.  Pete is one type.  Numbers 1 and 2 are the most easily recycled and reused, 3 through 7 are harder and require different equipment to recycle.  Check with you local government about which they accept.

Number 4 plastic is usually used for newspaper and shopping bags.  If you government does not accept them, you local supermarket might.

  2. It designates the type of plastic that was used in the product.

See the following link for the description of each type of plastic and its recycling information:

  4. As the three arrows mean it can be recycled, is it the amount of times it has been recycled? I notice that my Orangina bottle is called Pete. It says so just below the recycle symbol.

    What's yours called?

  5. I think there are 7 groups for recycling or something. I don't know what it means though! I hope I helped!
