Question:

What does the ocean signify in dreams?

I'm standing on a beach and the ocean pulls me in. I can't stop it. First I'm up to my ankles and by the time I'm up to my knees the rip-tide pulls me in far away from shore. I start swimming and go under a few times. It takes ALL my will and energy and I finally make it out of the ocean - limp and breathless and exhausted on the sand. Totally feeling like I almost didn't make it out again.........

I've had this same dream for years. It's very real. Does anyone know what this means?

  1. Not sure if this will help.

As a rule, the ocean  signifies good fortune if it is calm, but a sign of mixed fortune it the ocean is choppy.  If the ocean is drawing you in, it is a warning that real courage will be needed to overcome qn obstacle.  If a drowning person is rescued or revived it means that you will have a chance to recoup your business losses through the intervention of someone you trust.   Face your obstacle with courage and help from a friend.

  2. weel when i think of th beach i get peace and tranquility, maybe your at peace in this specific dream.

  3. Are you hyper emotional, super sensitive?  There seems to be some inability to discipline or control your emotional self.  Are you busying yourself with or allowing yourself to go with the flow of some relationship that is emotionally volatile?  You don't mention the condition of the water.  If calm, then there is some condition that provides emotional recluse which you are averse to or if waters are turbulent, then there is likewise extreme emotional upheavals from which you are trying to extract yourself.  You decide.

    Regards

  4. Could it be just a plain wet dream?

  5. The ocean is very powerful..it can pull you further out and pull you under.  I think that the ocean would represent feeling like you have no control, that you are struggling to withstand it's power and your exhaustion would be that something is tiring you, perhaps draining you of all your strength.

I understand this dream because I have had similar...I have woken up exhausted!  Only my ocean dreams have sharks swimming under me....must be my parents!  <nudge~nudge>
