I have heard this saying for a long time in my life and its meaning has changed for me. I am just wondering what it means to you.

  1. Had it not been for God's grace i could easily have been the one facing the problem or difficult /hazardous situation the other person is unfortunately having to deal with .

Makes me feel i am the chosen or blessed one .

  2. For me personally it means that when I see someone in a difficult situation or someone who is living the bad side of consequences to ones actions.

For example I am overweight and when I see someone who is as overweight as me or even more in one of those motorized wheelchairs in a store I say to myself, "There, But for the grace of God, go I".  It helps me to both be thankful for my blessings and as a motivational tool to make different decisions

  3. It means the lord has helped in a situation. when you have recieved the lord's help you have recieved his grace.

  4. it means , it could just as easily be you
