  1. To me it would mean "breaking the straw on the camel's back" , Or really stressed out, to the point of breaking. Ha, Using a metaphor to decipher another metaphor.

    If someone were to say that about a guitar, however, it usually means the strings are close to snapping or  "dead strings" . Either that, or they are ear-splittingly out of tune.

  2. Generally used to refer to someone that is tense all the time, and if anything goes wrong in their little world they can go off one way or another - get upset or hysterical, have a tantrum, etc.
