What does the phrase "Cut Me" mean in boxing?

I was just curious, go ahead and laugh, but I was watching Robot Chicken and the phrase was used during a sketch with Rocky...

  1. Boxers say cut me when their eyes are so swelled up that they can't see because of it. So they ask the trainer to cut them open to let the liquids drain and helps the swelling go down so they can see again.
