What does the phrase "easy as pie" really mean??

I always hear people saying that something is "easy as pie". I just don't understand how "pie" is "easy"!! What do you think?

  1. It's just an expression. Some things in English grammar don't make any sense, but that's just the way it is. "A piece of cake" is another example that is similar to "easy as pie"

  3. maybe its an over exaggeration like i mean as "pi" not "pie" cuz pi goes on forever and its really not that easy....lol no idea
