  1. It means pork instead of chicken.  It was a slogan created by a commercial to encourage people not to eat beef which was looked at as less healthy than "white meats".

  2. It doesn't mean anything. You are right.

  3. "In 1987 the U.S. National Pork Board, began an advertising campaign to position pork as "the other white meat" due to a public perception of chicken and turkey (white meat) as more healthy than red meat.

The campaign was highly successful and resulted in 87% of consumers identifying pork with the slogan.

As of 2005, the slogan is still used in marketing pork, with some variations."

The full phrase is "Pork. The other white meat" and it was always clearly spoken at the end of their television advertisements

If you hear someone use the phrase, it's likely a humorous reference to those brainwashing false advertisements.

There is also a phrase for beef:

    "Beef. It's what's for dinner"

And, as with the pork phrase, it was always clearly spoken at the end of the advertisements.

It's just as well known as the pork phrase and is also usually used by people in humorous reference.

Both advertisements were insults to human intelligence and always made me sick.

The meat industries have got to be the lowest, dirtiest, most despicable idustires on the planet.

  4. It was originally an ad for Pork, from the National Pork Council. "The other white meat" meant Pork was a low-cholesterol meat, in addition to the "original" white meat, chicken. Now it has become a phrase to mean something that is very different from another thing, but can be a substitute for it, usually in a joking manner.

  5. i believe chicken is the original "white meat", but this term is also used in reference to pork.

  6. It was a marketing catch phrase used to bolster the pork industry.  Eat pork in lieu of chicken...pork the other white meat.

  7. pork, as opposed to chicken
