  1. Their just calling their wingmen and passing messages.

  2. An acronym for firing a missile. There are lots of these in aviation.

    Fire

    On

    X - Target

    1 - Missile #

  3. it describes the range of the missile. the higher the number the shorter the range.

fox 1 is something like a phoenix

fox 2 something like a sparrow or amraam

fox 3 something like a sidewinder or asraam

    fox 4 = guns

fox 5.... well, it's an air to air.

  4. It indicates that a missile has been fired. I believe 'Fox-1' is a Sidewinder, 'Fox-2' is a Sparrow and 'Fox-3' is a Phoenix missile.

  5. fox stands for missile and it just used to let his wingman know that he fired missiles at the enemy

  6. FOX is a term used to describe an air to air missile.  So they are saying that they just launched a missile.

  7. it substitutes the description of guidance system of the missile being fired.

  8. It is a verbal confirmation of a missile launch, and what type of missle. Fox 2 is synonymous with a sidewinder launch, while Fox 3 I believe is an AMMRAAM

  9. It is from the United States standardized brevity code.

FOX-1 Implies that a semi-active radar guided missile is launched (mostly the Sparrow)

FOX-2 Is an IR Missile launch (Sidewinder)

FOX-3 is an active radar guided missile launch. (probably an AMRAAM)

The codes are not exactly missile specific.
