If you were to order something online and you put in the address box

Jeffery RD

instead of

Jeffrey RD

would the package still make it to you or would the post office discard it? Thanks in advance for the help.

  1. I've made that mistake a few times, but it usually (2 out of 3 times) made it to me. So long as you included the correct house number and zip code (along with city and state), it should make its way to you.

  2. It'll get to you just fine.  I'm sure you put the correct zip code, and I bet there isn't any such street as the misspelled one.  I've had my street totally wrong with the first part right and another word added, and I still get the mail.  Nothing to worry about.

  3. The post office first goes by zip code then street address.

The names are mainly for your benefit.

The only time the post office is concerned with names is if you move and they need to redirect your mail.

The post office is use to names being misspelled that's why the address is top priority.

My husbands name is the same as yours and gets spelled both ways.... everything arrives just fine...

We even had a magazine subscription we ordered arrive with our dogs name mixed with our last name. And It arrived just fine. (The kid that took the order was talking with my husband about our dog and accidentally put the dogs name with ours on the order.....Made for a funny last name....lolol )
