Question:

What does the prince mean?

i bought a prince racquet and on the bottom (butt cap) it says p2.

I was wondering what the 2 part means (i know the p stands for prince). My old racquet had p3 on it. Please Help

  1. Maybe that's the model #?  Idk, that wouldn't make much sense seeing as how your old one was a p3 and this says p2.  But maybe you mistakenly bought the older model?  I can't think of what else the number might mean.


  2. It's the grip size. Most racket grips are 4, which is not marked on the racket, and then the 1/8ths.  So your racket is 4 2/8, your old racket was a 4 3/8 grip. All you need to do is take off the grip, put a thin over grip on and put the new grip back on to give you the same feel and thickness of your old racket.

    I do grips for my lessons all the time. I actually tell them to buy it small and I build it up to what they need for the extra cushion.  Don't forget to get a full sized dampener for your racket. They're cheap but make a big difference.

  3. That's the grip size of your racket.  2 means 4 1/4 inch.  Here are some measurement links:
