  1. It's an analogy using something that almost everyone has experienced to one that some people may have not experienced.

After a rainstorm, the sun comes out and dries everything, warms everything, and make it lighter outside. Imagine how you feel when you see the sun shining after it's been raining for a long time. It feels warm, comforting, and you usually feel happy, right?

What this quote means is that he is comparing that same comforting feeling from the sun to the feeling of love. Even if you have not experienced love, if you think about how the sunshine feels after there has been no sun for a while, the basic emotion is the same. Once you can remember how you felt about the sunshine, you can apply it to love as he is describing it, and therefore understand the feeling he's trying to get the reader to feel.

    Hope that helps! :)

  2. Love comforts one, like the warm sunlight can comfort you after a harsh rain.

  3. To me: when it rains it is cool, dark, and sometimes it is a bad storm. So the sunshine (love) is comforting after a storm because is it warm, bright, calm.

    I hope I helped some
