  1. Pay more attention to the way a person acts not to what they say.

  2. It means that getting up and doing something is much more effective than just sitting around talking about doing it. Showing people that you will actually act on something and not just say you will do it stands out more with people. Like for example you may talk tough but when push comes to shove will you act on your words or continue talking and not do anything

  3. Our actions have more meaning than our words, like for example, let us compare a boy confessing to a girl but after that he didn't care about the girl. And another boy that doesn't confess but always show to the girl how he feels.. which has more impact.

  4. It's like when you say you love someone, that's great. However, if you show that person that you love them by like, buying them flowers, they will be more touched than hearing you repeat that you love them without doing anything about it.

A similar quote is: "The road to Harvard isn't paved with good intentions."

  5. Don't tell me Show me!

  6. For sure, they mean much different things.  It's like, "You may talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?"

In other words, talk is cheap and easy to do, but to back it up with deeds and actions is another thing.

Does that explain that?  I hope so.

  7. I could threaten to punch you in the nose but if I actually did punch you it would be a more effective action than just the threat.  That is an example of what the saying means.

  8. It's really pretty simple, Joanna, it's easy to say you're going to do something, but doing it, and saying you'll do it are two different things. A guy might say, "I'd walk through fire for you", but a day or two later if you were to ask him to pick up a Pizza for you and he were to say he's really sorry, but he's got this game to go to and can't......well, so much for actions versus words.

  9. What this means is that people can say anything, but when they act upon what they say it's more powerful. Hence, actions speaking louder than words.

  10. Words may, at times, betray the truth that your actions may seldom fail to speak of. You may say something when you actually mean another. Or sometimes, you don't speak at all so people think there's none on your mind. So pay attention to the actions and things people do. It gives you a clearer view of what they're actually trying to say.
