  1. it means youve made your decision so now you gotta live with the consequences, even if you dont like them

  2. First of all, it's LIE in it.   You got yourself into it, now get yourself out.

  3. You've created a situation now you have to put up with it.

  4. it means that you have to face the consequence for what ever action it was or decision you made. Usually it means that you have messed up.

  5. It means that what ever action you take then you must be responsible for it!

Taking ownership of the situation you find yourself in..

if your bed is messy..then you were lying in it so its your responsibilty to make the bed nice again!

  10. It means you've put yourself in a tough situation and someone isn't going to help you out of it. It's like saying you got yourself in trouble, now you have to get yourself out of it.

  11. You've caused the problem so now you must accept the consequences.

  12. You mean "lie in it", not "lay in it" (unless you're a chicken)

It's used when you're in a bad situation which is your own fault, to mean that you only have yourself to blame and you'll just have to put up with the consequences.

  13. You've messed up so you put it right.

  14. The idea is that if I make my bed very nicely, and smooth out the sheets, my bed will be very comfortable and I will sleep well.  If I make my bed poorly, I don't fold the sheets tightly, (the expression comes from before the days of modern fitted sheets!) and there are lots of wrinkles, it will be uncomfortable to sleep on; the sheets will come loose, and I'll get tangled up in them.  I'll sleep fitfully and wake up in the middle of the night and have to smooth the sheets and blankets out again.  I will have a bad night's sleep.

This is why the expression means that we suffer with the consequences of our actions.

  15. You've Made The Situation

    (Made the bed)

Now you Have To Deal With It

    (lay in it)

  16. you got yourself into this situation, now you must deal with the consequences!

  17. You created the problem so you must sort it out

Or you created the situation, now you must live it
