  1. Registered.

  2. The correct technical term is a registered trademark which is a trademark for a product that has been registered with the USPTO. I know since I registered two yesterday.

  3. thats the mark stating that the product or service is a registered patent.

  4. the little r means 'registered'

  5. It means registered. However in math it's something different!

    Often random symbols ($, #, @, &, et cetera) are used like a variable to represent an operation rather than a value.

    x (R) a may mean x + a, or x * a, or something more complex like 2x + 3a. Your job is to figure out what to do between x and a, depending on the problem.

    OR it could be a typo. Maybe it's supposed to be an arrow, so it's the limit as x approaches a. That makes a lot more sense than what I said above, judging from the rest of your problem.

  6. the product it is next to is a registered trademark

  7. I think in this case of calculus probably means "restricted".

  8. it probably should be an arrow (-->)

    limit as x --> a of f(x) = L

    some programs have auto "symbols"-- where a combination of characters turns into something like the registered trademark symbol!

  9. it means registered, but a better question is why the h**l are you using it for calculus!?!?!
