What does the star rating means on electronic items?

Like I went for buying Air conditioner n found some rating criteria over which lead in deep confusion.

Actualy some shopkeeper said it of no use to star rated Ac n some favour it,but thing is that star rated is for less consumption of electricity which everyone wants.

So which Ac shud i buy n wat about star rating?

I can adjust wid both split n window.

Though whch one is bst acordin to u.

    It's a logo showing compliance with government supported standards that greatly increase energy savings or reduced emissions and is not granted lightly.

    It's an easy way for buyers to see a product that's been proven to save energy costs, not just claimed to do so.  The Star rating is not inconsequential; it's quite important, but not the MOST important.  You need to compare 'apples & apples'.  For example, a smaller powered unit with a star is not going to do you as much good if you really need a larger powered unit, whether it has the star or not.

    the more no. of stars the less electricity is used

    the lesser no of stars the more electricity is used
