My father was adopted by a german family in the 1940's. His adopted father always called him that. Is that some form of hint as to from where my father is? I ask this because my grandmother is still alive, and she is a very racist woman. In fact, my wife and I don't even like her be around my daughter too much. If this question offends you, then please accept my apologies, and let me know. I'll remove it if it causes problems.

    northern Italians.

  3. Black dago refers to the area of Italy the someone comes from usually Sicily of the most southern part of Italy where the people had much darker skin. In northern Italy they were much more fair, some even blond.

  4. why they adopt him if they were racist...they should have gotten them a blond haired blue eyed person.  I hope they didnt treat him bad.

  5. Yes, a dark-skinned Italian.

  6. Dago is an offensive Spanish term. Black Dago is a racial term much like the N word used in regard to African Americans. It's meant as  the ultimate put down and to exert the superiority of the one who uses it. It's sad that people think they have the right to label those around them as anything other than fellow human beings.
