It's where you don't have any files, programs or folders written.

It's like a notebook. You have a 100 page notebook. You write in 60 pages of the book. You have 40 pages of free space.

Free space is the remainder of space left on your Hard Drive.

If your Hard Drive has 100GB (gigabytes) of space and you have used 20GB then your free space would be 80GB.

It's the part of your hard drive that is empty or doesn't have any data on it..the used space is where all the software,documents,pictures, etc. are stored..
