What does the term "local paradigm" mean to you?

I understand the history of the term, paradigm in the community - linguistically, scientifically (Khun), and sociologically.

I'm not looking for a definition from another source, per se, but am looking for what the conglomerate of said definitions in adherence with the term local, means to you.

You don't have to know everything about how the term paradigm is used. I just want your first impression.

I'm currently considering using it for a company name and just want to know what idea people get when they hear the term.

Thanks :)

  1. The word paradigm, to me means a mindset, or a way of thinking. So, a local paradigm, would mean how a group of connected people think alike.

  2. thomas kuhn coined the term pardigm to outline it in terms of the scientific process. A paradigm is the consensous of the scientific community. A paradigm has 2 levels the first is the encompassing whole cosisting of the theories, laws, rules, concepts and mechanisms that go into a fundamentally accepted theory of science.Such a paradigm is global. The second level is that just one of these theories, laws rules,etc..combines to form a global paradigm. These are local paradigms. For example galileo`s theory that the earth rotated round the sun became a paradigm in itself as an accepted law in astronomy. On the other hand his theory combined with other local paradigms in areas such as religion and politics to transform culture.
