What does the term "we jazz june" Mean?

This is a poem i am doing an essay on? but i need to know what that one line means?

Its called "We Real Cool"

We real cool. We

Left school. We

Lurk late. We

Strike straight. We

Sing sin. We

Thin gin. We

Jazz June. We

Die soon.

  1. "We Jazz June" also has a second meaning: basically that the poolplayers sleep around a lot because "jazz" as a verb means to have s*x.


  2. I would think that they are referring to listening or playing Jazz music in the summer months. (I am assuming this is a North American poet)

    It is a very "hip" thing to do.

    Sitting outside with your friends, drinking red wine as the sun sets and listening in a soulful way to the Jazz musician = very cool.
