  1. Delta, which means change.

  2. The triangle represents the Greek letter Delta which means "change."

For example, the acceleration formula is given by:

A = delta distance / delta time (substitute the triangle for the word delta).

    So translated, the equation says:

Acceleration is equal to the change in distance divided by the change in time.

  3. that triangle represents change in anything... which is remarkable..

like V2 and V1... the difference between both of them when V2 > V1

so, V2-V1 = DELL (that triangle sign) V...

that is also used in mathematins in differentiation.. thats why we write dx/dt which mean change in the variable X with respect to the change in time...

you dont have to be confused... both the things are same...

in short... that triangle only represents the difference...

  4. Yeah it means delta, or change  for example Delta T, means change in temperature or Delta P means change in pressure.

  5. change, for example velocity, change in distance/change in time = velocity

Look up in a calculus book the concept of a derivative, it will be explained in better detail.

  6. if it its presented in dot form, it means therefore

      .

    .  .  like this

  7. The triangle symbol ∆ is called delta and it is usually used to represent the spread of a variable. An example is to be found in Heisenberg's uncertainty principle equation for momentum 'p' and position 'x': -

    ∆p.∆x ≥ ħ/2

When the triangle is upside-down then it is a differential operator. Unfortunately I cannot find an upside-down triangle in this edit box's font (Calibri), so i'll use a notation ∆↓for the upside-down triangle! For example, ∆↓ may be written down for coordinates 'x,y,z' and variable 'V', as: -

    ∆↓= ∂V/ ∂x + ∂V/∂y + ∂V/∂z

or a double differential operator: -

    ∆↓²= ∂²V/ ∂x² + ∂²V/∂y² + ∂²V/∂z²

  8. One means:

    ∆ = ∂²/∂x_i ∂x^i

The other one which is upside-down triange, and I cannot found it in may character map means  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚ˆÂ‚/∂x_i

    David:

    ∆↓= i ∂V/ ∂x + j ∂V/∂y + k ∂V/∂z
