Interested in Clayton State University's curriculum, if applicable.

Can someone who is an English Major delineate over what courses they take, how often, specialties, durations, etc? Just trying to get a feel for what the college schedule would be like, how hectic things might be, what the routine involves, and a moderately detailed explication of various others things belonging of that sort.

I'm seeking this knowledge for all four years: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior.

Thanks.

  1. It will vary depending upon the school.  When you enroll, usually at Orientation, you'll get your school catalog that will explain all of the courses you have to take.  For an English major, you can expect something similar to the following:

    Survey of American Literature I

    Survey of American Literature II

    Survey of English Literature I

    Survey of English Literature II

Major English Author (usually Shakespeare, Chaucer, or Milton)

Major American Author (possibly Hawthorne, Melville, Hemingway, or others)

English Movement or Period (Victorian Literature, Romantic Literature)

American Movement or Period (Colonial Literature, Modern Literature)

Genre Studies (The Novel, Poetry, Drama)

    Literary Theory

    Literature Elective
