What does the weather be like in October on both Islands in New Zealand?

October is the second month of spring in New Zealand so it will be starting to warm up but you should still expect some cool temperatures in the evenings and overnight. Places like Queenstown and Wanaka will still have a lot of snow present on the mountains - often its not till late October that ski fields close.
