What does the wedding company 'Wrap-it' do?

it was a wedding gift company

you select what gifts you'd like, tell your friends, family & guests the URL, and let them decide what they want to buy for you.

Wrapit took the money (sent you an email, removed that item from the wedding list), then ordered the goods, bulked up the deliveries and sent them to your home as requested (ie when you wanted them delivering).

I think you got 2 or 3 deliveries free of charge

its no that different to a wedding list from John Lewis, except that you can select items from your own home rather than visit a John Lewis Store, you could also see images of the goods rather than the brief description Lewis's used to do.

it also meant that gifts could be arranged from overseas, or anywhere there was an internet connection

it is a wedding present company. You buy the presents from there and i think they used to wrap and deliver them.
