  1. freaking out, angry, overly excited, things like that.

  2. Originally, in the 60s or 70s it referred to being on some kind of psychoactive drug that distorted their perception of reality, as in an LSD trip.

By the 1980s, we were claiming that all sorts of things could cause the same sensation. "I just found out Jane and Fred are going out, I'm trippin' man!" I remember people starting to do unexpected things at summer camp, and the catchphrase became "These woods got you trippin'!"

Above, the phrase is probably used by someone trying to get people to believe that he saw what he saw, or heard what he says he heard. The person is trying to say that it wasn't a hallucination, that it really happened.

  3. IN that context, it means that you are not high and freaking out about things

  4. Freaking out, being excessively worried or paranoid about something. It had it's origins in the 60's, when it referred to being under the influence of LSD.
