  1. Checking some one out to see if they will be a good partner for your political run

  2. As already said, it's simply a thorough investigation of a person, i.e. income tax statements, criminal records, personal/family scandals, political wins or falls, etc.  A candidate wants to know everything about someone before they make a choice.

Note: Outta sight, you just made me lol!

  3. Theoretically, it means that you've had someone check the background out for your pick so that you know beforehand about unexpected pregnancies, you know that someone did not build a "bridge to nowhere" but also did not give back the money for it, you know that your pick appears to have fired a librarian for not going along with censorship but definitely threatened to fire her, that the same woman was accused of threatening someone for not going against policy to fire a man she didn't like, and all those little surprises that are coming out now.

  4. It is a person who has graduated from vet school.

  5. What the above poster said.

To be specific to politics, they're going through looking for criminal history, unethical behavior, photos of you donig coke ...things the public might not respond too favorably to.

  6. Broadly, vetting is a process of examination and evaluation. Specifically, vetting often refers to performing a background check on someone before offering them employment. In addition, in intelligence gathering, assets are vetted to determine their usefulness.

  7. Vetting is when you ensure someone is suitable for a particular job and basically has no skeletons in thier closets.  Everyone in the military is vetted before they join due to the sensitive nature of the infomation they will learn.  Vetting basically is a look into your past to see if you've done anything illigal etc.

In relation to the convention McCains running mate obviously wasnt vetted very well because she has done alot in her past that is embarresing to McCains campaign.

    Hope this helps :P

  8. Vetting is the process where a candidate's background is checked for anything that may come up in the course of the election as a positive or negative that could create unexpected waves in a campaign. All the campaigns are very scripted and if people do their jobs vetting, the media shouldn't have anything unexpected to bring out and throw a campaign off message.

Example: If McCain's vetting team had been more thorough, Sarah Palin's new grandbaby would have been announced by the campaign, not the media.

  9. A bit too late to ask this question now McCain

  10. It means I THINK providing some sort of care for a person or animal. To evaluate...bd

  11. It's the Dems new buzz word.

In 2000 their word was "Gravitas".

This election, you could not get a Democrat to say that word if you drove bamboo splinters under their nails and lit them on fire.

  12. To subject to thorough examination or evaluation
