What does this Japanese character mean?

I can not read it well enough to be able to look through a dictionary, so help would be fantastic!

獣 = けもの = kemono = animal, beast

...が 使える よ。= ...が　つかえる　よ。 = ...ga tsukaeru　yo. = (something) is useful (with emphasis).

I don't know much Japanese, but since no one else has answered...

The first picture is more than a character -- I guess the left part is from another hiragana character.

As for the second picture, I can't read the pictogram but the rest says:

ga X e ru yo
