What wouldt thou beg Laertes,

That shall not be my offer, not they asking?

is CLAUDIUS dissing LAERTES, i don't understand

the notes translate "not thy asking" to "rather than thy asking" but that doesn't tell me what the rest of it means

  1. "what wouldst thou beg, Laertes, That shall not be my offer, not thy asking"

What is it you want, Laertes, would I not offer it to you before you even asked for it, if I only knew what it was?

Far from dissing him, he's assuring Laertes he enjoys royal favor, and can ask whatever he wants.
