What does this dream mean? boyfriend dies?

Last night I had dream that I shot my boyfriend of 6 months in a big, empty white room, but I didnt even have a gun. He fell to the ground and for some reason I ran to him crying and screaming and held him as if I didnt want him to die. He wasn't bleeding or anything. He was slowly dying, and I could faintly see his mom in the back staring at him. Why did I dream this?
