  1. I think this quote is about people not standing up for what they believe in.  I can imagine a person in Germany while Hitler was torturing and killing the Jewish people.  A lot of people were appalled by what was going on but no one was brave enough to speak out against it.  That's my take on it.  Hope that helps.


  2. In moments of silence the 'war hero' may recall the most unsettling, noisy, sad etc. time of his life. When all is quiet he may hear the sound of gunfire and mortar, echoing through the tribute of the silent parade.
