  1. Twist drill bits.

  2. Tools that operate at a high speed!

  3. Drills, lathes, anything where fast moving metal rubs against metal.

This generates a lot of heat.

Tungsten steel can take more heat than other metals/alloys before deforming, melting or otherwise degrading.

  4. High speed tools are tools which move at high speed.

All tools which are powered and move generate heat. The faster they move, the more heat they generate. Therefore, for tools which move at a high speed, you need a metal which can handle the high temperatures. An example of a high-speed tool is a drill.

  5. im guessing that a high speed tool would be something like a saw that has a lot of friction. and when you get friction it creates heat..

  6. The faster the tool eg a drill bit the more friction ,hence more heat is created , this is why tungsten is used

  7. Drill bits, circular saws etc. Where parts that make contact with another substance are moving at speed, ie cutting purposes.

  8. Normal tool bits are made of HSS high speed steel. however if you are machining tougher material you can get tool bits made from tungsten. these tools are not only tougher but they do not absorb the heat generated as much as conventional bits.
