I got my MRI results back. here is what it said on the paper I got: Findings: There is minimal fluid signal intensity material within the inferior aspect of the right mastoidal air cells consistent with a component of mastoiditis. (I understand that part. Here is what I don't understand...) "The remaining mastoids and sinuses are normally pneumatized." Can someone please tell me what that means? Thanks!!!

  1. pneumatized means filled with air. and that is what your sinuses and pneumatic (airy) bones should be. - so it is completely normal.

  2. It means that you have the proper fluids/levels of fluid in your other mastoids and sinuses. That is a GOOD thing. :)

  3. All it means is that the rest the mastoid air cells and sinuses are normally pressured. Both have air/fluid levels and when they get disrupted it leads to sinusitis/mastoiditis (inflammation of the sinuses or mastoid region).

  4. your good to go

  5. Is it not worth asking your doctor seeing as you've already had an MRI?!

    I'd guess that 99.9% of the users on here arent qualified to answer that.

  6. ...All that means is that the remaining mastoids and sinuses have the normal amount of air and not fluid which would indicate inflammatory changes such as those found in the right mastoid air cells.

    fluid=inflammation or infection

    air= normal
