What does this mean exactly........?

What does this statement mean.... "It is not good to want a thing too much. It sometimes drives the luck away."

If you want something too much, you may actually push it further away.  ie: if you want a girl and bend over backwards calling everyday she might get scared off.

I think it means that sometimes you do not always get what you want .So therefore if you wish so hard then you have only placed yourself in a spot where you can get let down. When what you wish for is not what you got. So then you might say that my luck is no longer with me. When  really it still with you even if you did not get what it was that you wished for because that might not have been in God's plans for you. . Thanks and have a blessed day.
