Since it is Martin Luther 1483-1546    He live hundreds of years ago. The thought process behind dementia and other mental afflictions were looked upon as coming from the devil.

The weak of mind or demented is the result of being deprived of reason and with it ambitions and goals. Then it is said that lifeforms that reach that state of emptiness will lose sight of the beauty of life and will only feel the mental and physical anguish of the "Devil".

Meaning behind it... I would have to go on a hunch and say it has to do with white people s******g over black people with slavery and through the realization of the tactics they can liberated themselves and no long be slaves to the white devil on any level.
