Now here's what it says:

Acuvue Oasys

bc 8.4

Now I understand what BC is

but what is the 00 part of the -2.50?

Thank you.

  1. Is your prescription written like this:

                                        00

                                       -2.50

                                       8.4

That mean that in your right eye, you don't need any prescription, but your left eye does.

Most dr. write either zeros or plano for an eye that does not have the need for correction.

You have fairly good eye sight.  And I personally wear Acuvue Oasys and love them.  Great moisture and oxygen flow.

  2. It's not an OO, its an OD and it means right eye.

You take a -2.50 lens in the right eye.

    Your left eye is OS.

thaplati is wrong in saying that your right eye needs no power.  She doesn't know anything about your left eye.

  3. The 00 is the sphere but I would not know why  it would have 00.  I have not worn contacts in a while but I did when the disposables first came out and it use to say sphere on the box where yours has 00.  BC is for base curve.

Edit  I may not understand your question, is this on the prescription or on the box?  Is your vision the same in both eyes?  It could mean that both eyes is -2.50.  I use to work for an optician and things have probably changed since 1996 and I have forgot a lot of things I use to know.

  4. You should call your eye doctor and ask what your prescription is.  I am guessing the 00 is either OU (means both eyes) or OD (means right eye) but if it is OD it doesn't say what your left eye is.  Your best bet is to call the office to verify it so you don't order the wrong power.
