if you have joined a band as a singer and a member of the band say's they have made you an honorary member . What does that mean please?

  3. an honorary member is like being a member but not a real member you do the stuff with the group and act like a member but you really arn't a member

While 'honorary' can be positive, suggesting you have been awarded membership as a result of your achievements in other areas, in this context it seems designed to imply that you are not a full member and have been only granted membership on a provisional basis.

    To be honest, it says more about the other person than it does about you - perhaps they feel threatened by your talent and are feeling insecure about their status in the band...

  5. It's means he doesn't respect you. You're IN the band...nothing honorary about it! You're part of it and the honorary title is condescending.
