I have asked a quote from China, and they send this to me as a quote:

Dear ABC,

The total length of the tape depend on the size, different size have different length. We sale by Kilo. length depend on size,

for popular size is 10mm width, x thickness 0.30mm, 1kg about 270mts.

Price is about USD0.075/Meter.

My question is what exactly is "mts", meter? But does 1 kg (kilo?) equal to 270 meters?

  1. What this means, is that they don't sell the tape by meters (lenght).

What they do is, they weight the tape and sell it  by kilos. By the information they gave you the kilo costs about  $20.25 USD.

They can not tell you exactly the lenght of the tape you want, because they have to weight it, But they weighted a tape with the measurements  10mm width, x thickness 0.30mm (the most popular) and 1 kilo is about 270 meters.

So if the tape you want weights more (becouse of its thikness or its width) then one kilo is going to have less than 270 meters.

I hope I have explained myself!!!!

  2. It sounds like

"1 kilogram have a length of 270 meters"

that sounds too long though, 1meter = 3.25 ft

    270 meter = 877.5 ft = 292.5 yd long

These sizes does not make sense.

I would email them to question.

    Could this be a typo?

    "1 kg about 270 mm"?

meaning 1 kg about 27 cm ~ 10.6 in, just less than 1 ft?
