You didnt use enough detergent or you need to separate colors from whites.

If they're linty after coming out of the washer:

a.  there was something paper, like a tissue in someone's pocket

b.  clothes packed too tightly in washer and can't move around freely

c.  not enough detergent or water for the size load

d.  some article of laundry is producing higher amounts of lint (say, for instance, a chenille sweater)

If they're still linty after coming out of the dryer:

a.  clean the dryer filter, add some dryer sheets & run again

b.  re-wash and shake vigorously outside before running them through the dryer

c.  see if something fuzzy is being washed with them and wash/dry item(s) separately.
