What does this meen in animal forums?...?

I have seen in many animal forums that in peoples signatures they list the animals they own but they write for example 1.0.3 cats. What does that mean, how many cats does that person actually own?

Sometimes it represents the date that they got their first pet of that species/breed. People remember the date because it marks the beginning of a beloved friendship with many different pets.

In my experience it usually means males, females, dead.  You might try posting your question to the forum where you see someone's signature like that.  I haven't seen it much around yahoo answers.
