What does this old proverb mean to you?: "Never cast pearls before swine." ?

  1. I think it means: don't bother wasting something good for someone that won't appreciate it or understand it.


  2. Don't be careless with what is valuable.  I think more specifically, don't  expend effort giving words of wisdom, your valuable advice, etc to those too ignorant to appreciate them.  The phrase does liken the ignorant to pigs, but it is a very old saying, way before political correctness.

  3. It means never put things you dont need before necessities like food and water (swine is food) so its saying dont buy a pearl necklace if it means you won't be eating fpr the next few days.
