what does a picture of a sun mean? like a tattoo or just a picture. like what is the meaning of the word "sun"?

It means hope to me. The sun always makes me think of a horizon. And horizons just make me have hope.

It's the ancient symbol of life, or a life-giving force, the masculine principle in creation. As a tatt it probably just is a symbol of life with reference to the worship of life-giving forces in general. Or it could be a reference to heraldry, meaning 'glorious' or something like that.

I'm not sure about the word - seems like it has always referred to the Sun itself, or to daylight.

Oh, if it's a tattoo people can be pretty corny ... it might be in honor of a "son" (homonym)
