  1. Written by Tupac Shakur...(don't know if he's self-referring but it could work that way)...came from inner city (concrete) where typically not much of beauty grows but in this case it did.

    There are many symbols of beauty coming from ugliness: Pearl (little girl in Scarlet Letter) born from adulterous affair...also any pearl which grows from piece of sand.

    Lotus - often a symbol in Buddhism of beauty coming from what you believe to be ugliness...lotus flowers grow in the yuckiest mud.
