  1. it means that taking revenge on someone(payback) does absolutely no goog to yourself-on fact it makes it worse.

  2. Salt water is not usable for drinking and still leaves you looking for a way to satisfy your thirst.

Revenge is not usable for satisfying emotions, and after taking revenge you still search a way to satisfy the emotions.

  3. we only seek revenge because some one or somthing hurt our emotions and we want that hurt to be quenched or to go away. And If we get revenge, it does not heal our feelings, we may feel healed at first, but it may in fact make the situation worse, kind of like how drinking salt water will help at first but in the end it will only make you thirstier.

  4. Salt water, when you drink it, makes you thirstier, so revenge does not soothe, but makes you feel more vengeful.

  5. Simply put, anger begets anger.  You cannot get rid of anger, simply by getting revenge on someone.  You must learn to forgive the violation, grieve your loss, and move on.

  6. Revenge does not make you feel any better than drinking salt water would if you were thirsty.

Just like drinking salt water does not make you less thirsty, revenge does not help your emotional state.
