  2. maybe it means that the father wasnt around to raise you and came in to your life once you were already raised?

  23. A lot of dads don't like to step in with their daughters until they're teenagers breaking the family's dress code or seeing a sketchy guy. Then all of a sudden, they go from being almost independent to being "daddy's little girl".

    Another thing it could mean is that when kids are really little (under 5), they're a handful to take care of. A lot of dads don't really want to "parent" until their kids are old enough to wipe their own butts and actually be fun to spend time with.
