  1. I studied Buddhism for awhile and if it has anything to so with that, meditation is one thing Buddhist so to help them reach enlightenment. Thats about all  I know.

  2. Soen Shaku was the first Zen Buddhist to teach in America. Meditation has always been central to Buddhism and considered a key tool in spiritual development. The quote when broken down can be interpreted as:

Meditation is not a difficult task:

First meditation is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the conditioned, "thinking" mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. It often involves turning attention to a single point of reference. Basically that means you focus really hard on just one thing. For example, if you play sports...you focus on winning the championship or crossing the finish line first.

It is a way to lead you to your long last home:

The goal of most Buddhist is to reach enlightenment and enlightenment can be reach through three things, TRAINING,WISDOM, and MEDITATION. So that means that mediation can lead you back to your final destination which is enlightenment.

Conclusion: Its not hard to focus on what you want most and when you do you will have the greatest achievement. Shaku meant his focus (meditation) would lead him to his long  last home (his eternal life, kinda like heaven)

    Hope this helps my friend

  3. Doesn't sound that difficult to me. You need to do your own homework.

  4. Meditation is a time for you to look within yourself for answers, kind of a journey to find yourself.  Thus, when it says "It is a way to lead you to your long-lost home", your actually finding yourself.
