1. Faith is one of the most powerful forces imaginable. Faith causes great acts of good and evil. Ultimately in the context of the movie, you have to understand, Gordon was stating that the people needed to believe that their faith in the good of the system (Dent) would eventually prevail over evil. The quote is simple. We all take a leap of faith when we believe in something beyond ourselves, something greater. And sometimes it is for the greater good that that faith is upheld and the faithful are rewarded

  2. I haven't seen the movie, but from my point of view I would say it might mean people deserve respect and to be accepted without expectation of possible betrayal of the trust given until it is betrayed. Just my thought.

  3. These 2 sentences don't even belong together; they actually contradict one another.

The truth is always good enough--who could want more? More is not possible, as truth is not variable. It is a constant, and stands completed, completely on its own.

The second sentence has other problems as well. People do deserve to have their faith rewarded--always. The problem lies in the fact that people do NOT always have their faith rewarded.

Whoever wrote this dialogue was just putting some words together that sounded good, but they really make no real sense at all.

  4. Allow me to explain this one with an example. If you have never eaten cake before and I told you the cake is great and I got all my friends together and told you the cake was great would you really know that cake was great? No, because you would have to taste that cake to know for sure that it was great. Sometimes all the truth or words in the world cannot replace the sensations of personal experience.

  5. Haven't seen the movie yet, so in context I might be wrong, but.... I think that it means that sometimes people need something to happen instead of being told the truth. Faith is believing in something that yo can't see, that faith can be rewarded by a physical representation. Gordon is saying that something happening is BETTER than just telling them something.
